Your $150 investment includes all eight Adult Saturday Drum Camp sessions plus complimentary djembe use during class.
This pass is for participants who want the consistency of showing up each week, developing their technique over time, learning the rhythms more deeply, and becoming stronger ensemble players.
Whether you've never touched a djembe or you've been drumming for years, you'll have a place in the circle.
Led by Djembe Fola Kam, each Saturday builds through traditional West African rhythms, technique, call-and-response, listening, and ensemble playing.
What You'll Build
Across the eight-week experience, you'll have opportunities to:
- Learn traditional West African rhythms
- Develop clear bass, tone, and slap technique
- Strengthen timing and rhythmic confidence
- Practice call-and-response
- Build listening and coordination
- Develop endurance and consistency
- Strengthen your ability to play within an ensemble
- Learn about the rhythms and cultural traditions connected to them
No previous drumming experience is required.
Already have experience? Come deepen your technique, expand your rhythm vocabulary, and strengthen your ensemble playing.
From the Circle to the Stage
Throughout the season, participants who choose to perform will prepare for a culminating performance during the Kwanzaa season.
Eight weeks gives you the opportunity to experience the full progression—from learning and practicing the rhythms to building them with the ensemble and, if you choose, sharing them on stage.
Learn. Practice. Build. Perform.
Performance is completely optional. You are equally welcome to participate simply to learn, grow, drum with others, and enjoy the experience.

Meet Your Instructor
Djembe Fola Kam brings more than 30 years of drumming experience in the United States and Guinea to the circle.
His teaching goes beyond memorizing patterns. Participants work on sound, technique, timing, listening, ensemble awareness, and understanding the cultural traditions connected to the rhythms they play.
